https://youtu.be/m6EuIUKe1-w (Mean wind and turbulence profiles over the open
seas and oceans)
In this video we propose appropriate profiles for the variation with height of mean
wind speeds (10-minute averages), and turbulence intensities, for synoptic-scale
storms (including gales and tropical cyclones) in the open oceans. These can be
used for structural design for wind loads acting on offshore structures, such as
platforms and wind turbine towers, but at lower wind speeds may be useful for
other applications such as shipping and helicopter operations.
https://youtu.be/8dKZjIWfcx8 (Wind-induced fatigue)
The video describes a simplified design method for structural fatigue produced by
turbulent wind loads.
https://youtu.be/rQ6xjjpYhgY (Landfalling tropical cyclones on the Queensland
coast)
The video looks at the recent history of damaging tropical cyclones on the coast of
Queensland, Australia, trends which may be the result of the changing climate and
the implications for the design of structures for wind loads
https://youtu.be/6gnRaAN9SOY (Changes in AS-NZS 1170-2 2021 Wind Actions)
This video describes and explains the changes to the 2021 edition Australian/New
Zealand Standard for Wind Actions.
https://youtu.be/O_tZ8QcbE5E (Analysis and prediction of extreme wind speeds
and loads)
This video describes some of the techniques available for processing wind speed
data and making predictions of extreme wind speeds and loads for the design of
structures.
